My Story
Born in Atlanta, raised in Charlotte. Growing up I played all the sports, football, basketball, raced BMX, mountain bikes you name it, but baseball had my heart. Middle school is around the age I found out I may have something special although I was always a little bigger for my age. I remember a group of older boys coming up to me excited telling me I was sitting 87-88 touching 89, this was beginning of 8th grade. Highschool was an exciting time for me as Velocity kept trending upwards and began to figure out what I was doing on the mound. Freshman year, I committed to the University of North Carolina, although I had an offer from just about every single ACC and SEC school in the country. I didn’t think I could be anymore excited until the pro scouts started showing up. By Junior year I was one of the top prospects in the class, Fastball touching 97 frequently. Invites from every big All-American games, showcases and a spot on 18u Team USA. After the summer was over I received a scholarship to go to IMG Academy one of the biggest athletic boarding schools in the world. I finished up highschool there basically untouchable all year with my fastball up to 99MPH and my new and improved off-speed offerings, I would then go on to be selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 1st Round in 2019. About a year after I would be traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates (right before spring training 2020) for Sterling Marte. Coming to the Pirates there was a lot of high expectations for me to ge to the big leagues but injuries (labrum and now dealing with Tommy John) have plagued my career and now can teach other young players how to create a safer environment for their arms!
